Happy Birthday Kelly!
I painted this Field of Poppies for my dear friend and roommate, Kelly. I was supposed to finish a painting for her back when she moved into her new house over a year and a half ago - oops! Anyway, she wanted something with flowers and the color red...so here it is. The painting is 24"x36" and is acrylic and modeling paste on gallery canvas. I am including a few pics of the finished painting and one of the not-so-finished version. I hope she likes it!

Little River Canyon
This is a beautiful national preserve in Northeast Alabama. Great views of waterfalls, rock formations, canyons, river. Definitely worth the drive up.

Valentine's Day Flower Boxes
I stained these little boxes that cost me $4 a piece and filled them with red and pink roses. A little supermoss to cover the floral foam completes it!

It's almost 80 degrees in February
I love this photo especially on a warm day like this. I took it last summer when we walked miles and miles in the Las Vegas heat and stopped for a refreshment. Someone should put a sign up there that says 'objects are FARTHER than they appear!'

What if Andy Warhol came to Birmingham?
Ever since watching Factory Girl I can't get Andy Warhol out of my head. Thought it might be fun to do a 'Warhol inspired' image today. In true fashion, why not use the most iconic thing Birmingham has to offer as subject matter? Now I just wish I could silkscreen!

Ahh...the simple things in life
I really like this picture for some reason. I took it while hiking in the Sipsey wilderness! Can't wait to go again when it gets warmer. Happy Friday!

War Damn Eagle!
Momma Goldberg's in Homewood opened two weeks ago and I have already gone a couple times. I have to say the food tastes just as good as it does in Auburn. Momma's Love (no mayo) and an order of nachos with peppers - Mmmmmmmmm! They are a little slow on getting beer and they need some ambiance but I'm sure that will all come in time.

Christmas Rose Topiaries
I decided to do something different and fun this year and give a couple of flower arrangements away as gifts. They were really fun to make and I think they turned out pretty good. One is made out of a mixed nuts can and is surrounded by candy cane sticks held together by a rubber band covered by a ribbon. The other arrangement is a recycled glass vase with the peppermints superglued directly to it. I used white roses from Whole Foods (which some people call Whole Paycheck but I think their flowers are beautiful) and red berries from my front yard! The long stems are held in place with floral foam and a bit of wire covered in ribbon.
