Happy Easter!

These are a couple shots of some beautiful flowers I received this weekend. They almost look fake in the photos. I hope everyone had a good Easter! Pin It

Stuffed French Toast

I love to cook so this weekend I tried something new for brunch. This is french toast stuffed with cream cheese and sweetened strawberries. I think the secret is to use a real french bread loaf and dip the slices in a batter made of eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla extract. I already had peaches so I sliced those up and sprinkled with powdered sugar. I'm stuffed! Pin It

What's with that face?

I was running late for work this morning but I had to stop and get a couple of shots of Dusty. I mean he was putting every last drop of effort into his pout face. It must really be hard to lay around and sun yourself by the window all day. That's life pal! Pin It

Steak au Poivre and Dessert!

I made a dish from Village Tavern for Joel's birthday last night. Filets in a homemade cream sauce with loaded mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus! Brownies with Ben & Jerry's Phish Food ice cream and raspberries for dessert! Mmmmmmmm mmmm! It turned out pretty good! Happy Birthday Joel! Pin It

Happy Birthday Kelly!

I painted this Field of Poppies for my dear friend and roommate, Kelly. I was supposed to finish a painting for her back when she moved into her new house over a year and a half ago - oops! Anyway, she wanted something with flowers and the color red...so here it is. The painting is 24"x36" and is acrylic and modeling paste on gallery canvas. I am including a few pics of the finished painting and one of the not-so-finished version. I hope she likes it! Pin It

Little River Canyon

This is a beautiful national preserve in Northeast Alabama. Great views of waterfalls, rock formations, canyons, river. Definitely worth the drive up. Pin It

Valentine's Day Flower Boxes

I stained these little boxes that cost me $4 a piece and filled them with red and pink roses. A little supermoss to cover the floral foam completes it! Pin It

It's almost 80 degrees in February

I love this photo especially on a warm day like this. I took it last summer when we walked miles and miles in the Las Vegas heat and stopped for a refreshment. Someone should put a sign up there that says 'objects are FARTHER than they appear!' Pin It

What if Andy Warhol came to Birmingham?

Ever since watching Factory Girl I can't get Andy Warhol out of my head. Thought it might be fun to do a 'Warhol inspired' image today. In true fashion, why not use the most iconic thing Birmingham has to offer as subject matter? Now I just wish I could silkscreen! Pin It

Happy Birthday Jen!

I made this vase for a great friend by cutting out words and pics that remind me of her from old magazines. A couple coats of polyurethane and some funky flowers complete the arrangement. Definitely something different! Pin It

Ahh...the simple things in life

I really like this picture for some reason. I took it while hiking in the Sipsey wilderness! Can't wait to go again when it gets warmer. Happy Friday! Pin It

Recycled vinyl record bowls

I have been wanting to do this project for a long time if you can call it that. It is so easy. Take your favorite record (or one you don't even like) and center it on top of an upside down metal bowl. Put it in the oven for 5 minutes at 225 degrees and then pull it out and shape it anyway you want! I had about 1-2 minutes of time to sculpt the vinyl before it hardened again. Makes an awesome retro gift or centerpiece. You can also pin them up on the wall as a sculpture. Pin It

SNOW in Alabama!!!

We finally got a little of the white stuff in Birmingham Saturday morning and it was awesome. Dusty loved it... rolled in it, ate it, chased it. It was definitely fun while it lasted and although more than 2 days have passed and most all of it has melted, our snowlady still stands tall. Pin It

I won! I won!

Last night I went to a Lead Out Dinner at The Club in Birmingham featuring Braves pitcher John Smoltz as the guest speaker. I was interested in going but I had no clue it was going to be as fun as it was. Smoltz was a great speaker BUT the real news here is that we got to attend a silent auction for charity in which I won AN AUTOGRAPHED AUBURN TIGERS BO JACKSON #34 FOOTBALL JERSEY!!!!!!!!!!!! That made my night. I am so excited to get it framed and wanted to post some pics to show off my prize! Pin It

War Damn Eagle!

Momma Goldberg's in Homewood opened two weeks ago and I have already gone a couple times. I have to say the food tastes just as good as it does in Auburn. Momma's Love (no mayo) and an order of nachos with peppers - Mmmmmmmmm! They are a little slow on getting beer and they need some ambiance but I'm sure that will all come in time. Pin It

Christmas Rose Topiaries

I decided to do something different and fun this year and give a couple of flower arrangements away as gifts. They were really fun to make and I think they turned out pretty good. One is made out of a mixed nuts can and is surrounded by candy cane sticks held together by a rubber band covered by a ribbon. The other arrangement is a recycled glass vase with the peppermints superglued directly to it. I used white roses from Whole Foods (which some people call Whole Paycheck but I think their flowers are beautiful) and red berries from my front yard! The long stems are held in place with floral foam and a bit of wire covered in ribbon. Pin It

Hello!

So here I am. I decided to start this blog due to a mixture of my constant internet usage and imminent boredom. It will really just be a place to keep my art, photos, and thoughts that I hope someone out there will enjoy...unless of course you are a sicko. Pin It
